Makino A51
With growing demand by our customers and in an effort to supply our customer ultra precision parts, IDC has invested in a Makino A51 horizontal machining center to accomplish this task. The Makino A51 is a state of the art piece of equipment utilizing two 15.7″ pallets allowing for up to a 24.8″ X 35.4″ workpiece. It has a 22″ X 22″ X 23.6″ (X,Y,Z) travel capacity, 0.9 second tool change time, 2,3622 in/min rapid traverse, and 1,772 in/min cutting feedrate. IDC outfitted this machine with a 134 tool magazine, a 14,000 RPM spindle, 1000 PSI coolant-thru spindle, Marposs touch probe, and a supplemental coolant filtration & chilling system. Those features combined with the horizontal spindle make this a very efficient machine for a precision and high rate of material removal, offering our customers a reduced cost.

Heat Treating Cell
In addition to the Makino, IDC has also installed an air circulating, AMS-2750 Class 3 certified heat treating oven capable of reaching 650~F. This allows IDC to perform standard stress relieves on material substrates such as; aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and thermal plastics. IDC has also added a Thermotron SE-600 temperature chamber to our stress relieving cell. This allows us the flexibility to perform the more stringent thermal cycle stress relieves to the before mentioned substrate materials. The 20.7 cubic foot Thermotron is capable of reaching temperatures from -158~F to 500~F and is NIST traceable. Currently IDC has special process approval by Lockheed Martin M&FC and Northrop Grumman Laser Systems approved for: AMS-2750 pyrometry, stress relief of aluminum, and thermal cycle stress relief of aluminum. The addition of this equipment allows us to lower costs and shorten lead times to our customers.
